Fly fishing is one of the main attractions at El Pangue Lodge. Surrounded by the dense temperate rainforest, in the midst of pristine and untouched scenery, flow clear rivers ideal for this angling experience. The setting is perfect for those who not only enjoy fishing as a sport, but also enjoy the silence and tranquility of nature.

Fly fishing in Risopatrón river

A choice of rivers and lakes

Lake Risopatrón:

Day trip aboard a boat exploring the waters of Lake Risopatrón. Catch includes Rainbow and Brown Trout, with the breathtaking backdrop of mountains and lush forest. Bait is usually dried flies, mimicking the insects of the area.

Lake Rosselot:

A one day fishing trip along the shores of Lake Rosselot and aboard a boat exploring its waters. The lake is famed for its scenery and great fishing. Ideal spots include the deltas of the Bordalí and Fugueroa rivers, as well as the shores and a secluded cove known as ‘Clarito’.

Training day (1 day):

An introductory course to fly-fishing, specially designed for people with little or no fishing experience. It begins with a class on casting on the lodge’s artificial lagoon. At the end of this class you will be allowed to test your new abilities to catch some of the trophies in the lagoon. Later you will form part of a half-day excursion to Lake Rispoatrón where you can practise your new skills..

Risopatrón River (1 or 2 days):

This excursion includes a descent of the river aboard a boat. The vessel is a Cataraft, which can navigate the river moving only with the current. This allows the anglers to approach trout without disturbing them, as would >not be the case on a motorboat. This excursion caters particularly to anglers who value the scenery as much as the sport.

This trip can be spread across 2 days, given the length of the journey, allowing more time to let the scenery and calm sink in.

Palena River:

Fishing at Palena River can be done aboard a boat or from the banks. The river’s geography allows for both alternatives, with beautiful scenery wherever you decide to cast a fishing line.

Puyuhuapi Fiord and the Queulat River (1 day):

This excursion allows you to cast your fishing line into the waters of the Puyuhuapi Fiord, where catch includes Rainbow Trout and Salar Salmon. Anglers can also fish in the Queulat River, exploring on foot for a perfect spot to begin a day’s fishing.

Rosselot River (1 day):

Fishing at Rosselot River can be done aboard a boat (provided by the lodge) or from the banks of the river itself. The river’s shape and geography allows for both alternatives, and the surroundings are of breathtaking beauty and calm.

Salmons in the Palena River (1 day):

A day of fishing in the Palena River, visiting spots known for a large concentration of Atlantic and Chinook Salmon. Some of the specimens caught at these sites have weighed upwards of 10 Kg (22 lb). This activity is available depending on the season, when Salmon migrate for breeding.

Figueroa River (1 day):

A fishing excursion to the beautiful Figueroa River can take place aboard a boat or from the banks of the river.

Pico River (1 day):

Close to the Argentinian border, the Pico River is perfect for anglers who enjoy bankside fishing, particularly those who like rivers with variating currents and depths.
